About Us

Everitts was founded in 1962 by John Everitt, who began selling metal from the back of his Dodge truck.

A family-run business from the start, John’s son Leon joined the company in 1966 at the age of 16.

During the scrap boom of 2006-07, Everitts invested in new equipment to enhance operations, and the business has only grown busier since. Today, we handle around 7,000 tons of ferrous metal and a significant amount of non-ferrous material, making us a standout in the metal recycling industry. Now managed by Sean and Richard Everitt, with Leon’s continued support, the company has expanded to two metal processing and recycling plants in Dunedin and Oamaru.

Our dedicated, customer-focused team is committed to maintaining high safety and environmental standards, consistently striving to exceed both regulatory and community expectations.
